Insight from a Holiday Horn

Oh hey, this is William Horn (or more preferably Ted). I'm a New Yorker at heart, born and raised in South Salem, New York, but my family just finished moving to Darien, Connecticut.

My dad, my sister, my step brother, and I watched Christmas with the Kranks a few days before Christmas. We spent most of the time enjoying my dad expressing hatred for Tim Allen's train wreck. The overly convenient plot twists and dry dialogue couldn't save the holiday film from its creepy atmosphere. Check out this video trailer, courtesy of PreviewsOnDvDs:

One aspect of our 21st century media culture that I enjoy is the increased convenience of the little things that comes with the internet. For example, you can look up probably anything you're curious about and get at least generally accurate results. Also, communication takes limited to no effort with e-mail, web chatting, instant messaging, and now this Google Wave convergence...strides are being made. One aspect I do not enjoy about 21st century media culture is the news as seen on television. Stories seemingly covered based on shock value in order to inform through fear. Incredibly slanted stations not telling the whole, fair story. It's just not for me.

I'm an aspiring writer here at Champlain, so an ideal future would involve creating connections and gaining resources so that I can get a job as an editor for a magazine sort of publication. I would make my secondary focus that of a novelist, writing on the side.
